Career Comp@nion online is an impartial and mediated review service of Careers, Learning and Support Information websites.
Career Comp@nion online has been designed to help people of all ages - including professional teachers and advisers - locate the best careers, learning and support information on the Internet. It can be used by Year 9 (Age 13-14) pupils in school right through to adults planning for retirement.
Our review and editorial team looks for the positive features in each site to help you locate reliable information quickly and decide if a site is worth visiting and exploring. The reviewers are all professionals working in career guidance, education and information. Sites are selected for their quality, usefulness, appropriateness of content and impartiality. The reviewers also assign icons to indicate at a glance the type and range of information that the site holds.
Any sites that do not meet our strict criteria are not included. Reviews and URLs are checked to ensure they remain up to date and new sites are added regularly.
Professional reviews are complemented by student reviews. We have been helped by Year 9 and 10 students at Bishop Challoner School in Basingstoke and Year 12 and 13 students at Havant College who have completed web reviews as part of their curriculum studies. There are also comments about university life from students in their first year of Higher Education.
Our design and I.T. specialists ensure the site is attractive and easy to use and fully accessible to those with disabilities. They have worked behind the scenes to provide reviewers and editors with a comprehensive tool for updating the content of Career Comp@nion Online.
Surf In2 Careers Ltd provides web-based training, careers, learning and support resources to a wide range of customers. More details on the desktop Rolodex and a series of 14 A2 posters covering career, employment and subject information can be found by clicking here.
We welcome feedback on our site, and suggestions for additional sites we could include to make Career Comp@nion Online as comprehensive as possible.
While Career Comp@nion Online seeks to help users locate potential sources of information, we can take no responsibility for the content of any given websites, how such information is used, or any subsequent decisions made as a result of visiting sites we have reviewed. We also believe that web-based information is never a substitute for one to one professional career guidance.
